• Insurance population to provide a genetically and demographically sustainable and behaviourally competent global insurance population for the wild population. Genetically, the global population will be managed with the goal to maintain at least 90% gene diversity for 100 years. • Education Education materials and expertise from ex situ community will be used in support for awareness raising and to educate locale communities to close to protected and unprotected containing anoas. Many educational resources are already available through: https://www.actionindonesiagsmp.org/resources. EAZA Members are encouraged to take part in the annual Action Indonesia Days to help spread the word. • Training it is needed to train and build the capacity of ranger staff in situ in husbandry techniques to maximise any potential benefits of rescued anoa for the insurance population or in situ population. |

• Education Anoa are a striking species with an interesting biology, are endemic to Indonesia and are included on the list of Indonesia’s 25 national priority taxa threatened with extinction. This can be used to raise awareness among zoo visitors in Indonesia and other countries of human impacts on anoa and wildlife in general to inspire support for conservation activities and action. • Fundraising Anoa can be used as ambassador species to fundraise for in situ conservation projects that benefit wild anoa and their habitat throughout their range. |

Programme numbers
The Action Indonesia GSMP takes a global view of the conservation of not only Anoa but also Babirusa and Banteng. They also work collaboratively with the Sumatran Tiger GSMP. To find out more about Global Species Management Plans, please visit the WAZA website.
- Anoa are managed as part of the Action Indonesia Global Species Management Plan. The website dedicated to the GSMP has information about the species managed under this programme. Action Indonesia also has a very active Facebook page where they regularly publish news stories.
- In Zooquaria 104 (Winter 2018/2019) on page 15 there is an article about the anoa. In Zooquaria 108 (Spring 2020) on page 26 you can find out more about Action Indonesia Day.
- EAZA published its 2021 Annual TAG report and on page 54 are the activities of the Cattle and Camelid TAG.
